The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists have attacked a military checkpoint killing two in Maiduguri.

The attack came barely 24 hours after the military has confirmed the killing of over 100 ISWAP terrorists and their 10 top commanders at the lake Chad basin region.

The attack took place at Molai general area of Maiduguri around 6:00pm.

Many civilians fled for safety during the attack.

Sources revealed that the terrorists came in large numbers with sophisticated weapons on motorcycles and vehicles.

The attack led to the killing of two security personnel at the checkpoint.

However the air support unit of the Operation Hadin Kai moved in to repel the attack.

A top military source who spoke to Daily Trust said, “They were shooting and firing RPGs in the area in the attack which forced many residents of Lawanti Kura, Mamanti, and Molai general area to flee their homes to a safe place in the town.

“After a fierce battle, we lost two operatives; one soldier and a mobile policeman were killed during the attacks, and some personnel wounded."
