Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday attacked a general hospital in Gulu Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.
At the Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital in Gulu, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, two people were reportedly killed by the gunmen.
Additionally, they abducted approximately ten people, including the pharmacist and doctor from the hospital.
According to DAILY POST, the event happened at around two in the morning.
Ya-Tachi, a retired medical professional who lived in the neighbourhood right across from the hospital, was reportedly one of those killed.
It was discovered that the bandits invaded the hospital in huge numbers and opened fire intermittently during their operation without any assistance from security staff or neighbourhood vigilantes.
Two people died as a result of the gunmen's attacks on the hospital, according to Zakari Nda, a resident who spoke with a DAILY POST correspondent on the phone.
“They arrived in large numbers and were shooting sporadically, which sent fear into the people during the period of their operation.
“At the end of the operation, many people were abducted and some wounded."
He also urged the security forces and the government of Niger State to act decisively to stop the ongoing attacks on communities.
Attempts to obtain the State Police Command's response were unsuccessful.
