Two Security operatives killed in Rivers crisis

In the midst of the ongoing Local Government crisis in Rivers State, two security operatives have lost their lives.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Omuma Local Government Area, likely linked to the invasion of the council headquarters at Eberi-Omuma.

The Rivers State Police Command's spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the fatalities to Channels Television.

"Two deaths were recorded," she stated, identifying the victims as a policeman and a vigilante operative.

"Investigations have commenced and more details will be released soon,” she added.

In response to the escalating situation, Governor Siminalayi Fubara convened a security council meeting with heads of security agencies at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The meeting was held behind closed doors.

Following the meeting, the Governor emphasized that the discussions focused on strategies to contain the invasion of local government secretariats.
