Two Shot Dead In Enugu As Gunmen Attack APC Ward Meeting

At least two party stalwarts were killed and another kidnapped when gunmen stormed the venue of All Progressives Congress (APC) ward meeting in Enugu State.

The ugly incident reportedly took place on Tuesday at about 6.p.m.

Members of the party in ward III Obeagu Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area were having a reconciliation meeting at the party office located in their ward when the gunmen struck.

Numbering over seven the gunmen stormed the venue of their meeting killing two instantly while whisking away the third victim.

A source at the meeting confirmed that the meeting was called to reconcile all factions of the party in the ward as part of the ongoing effort to unite all members of the party in the state.

“The meeting was underway when these men invaded our meeting and shot our immediate past Chairman, Kelvin Ezeoha and one other person I don’t know his name was shot dead while Honourable Monday Ogbonna (Okwadike), a factional Chairman of the party in our council area was kidnapped.

“One person is lying critical wounded at the hospital and we don’t know his fate,” the source said.

Efforts to reach Dr. Ben Nwoye, state Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party for comments failed as he told our correspondent; “I can’t comment on this now, I’m so devastated.”

The late Kelvin Ezeoha was elected the state youth leader of the party during the last state congress of the party held at the party’s secretariat in Enugu.

Honourable Ogbonna (Okwadike) joined the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on February 28th, 2021 at his Obeagu Awkunanaw ward with funfair.
