Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has presented N5 million cheque to two students, Abdulhamid Maigari and Abubakar Mohammed, in appreciation for making locally harrowing and ploughing machines.
Both boys are students of Government College, Gashua.
While presenting the cheque on Monday in Damaturu, Governor Buni said the money would motivate the students and encourage local invention among the people of the state.
“This administration will, therefore, continue to give the sector the priority attention it deserves.
“We shall also be in tune with the Federal Government’s policy on agriculture as one of the most important sectors of the nation’s economy,” he said.
Thanking the Governor on their behalf, Maigari promised to use the money to upgrade their machines.
The people of Yobe are predominantly farmers who like some states in the North East were greatly affected by insurgent activities.
