Nigeria beat South Africa in a thrilling U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match to progress to the quarterfinals.

Abubakar Abdullahi's winning goal in the 65th minute helped the Golden Eaglets overcome the Amajimbos 3-2 in Constantine, Algeria.

South Africa had taken an early lead through Vicky Mkhawana, but Nigeria fought back to equalize through Charles Agada's header.

Siyabonga Mabena's stunning strike put South Africa ahead just before halftime, but Nigeria responded quickly with Light Eke's tap-in.

Abdullahi then secured the win for Nigeria with a well-placed shot, while South Africa's hopes of qualifying now depend on the results of Group C.
