Flying Eagles defender Solomon Agbalaka has said that his side's victory against the Young Pharaohs of Egypt is truly deserved.
Ladan Bosso's men bounced back from their opening fixture defeat to Senegal with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Egypt in their second game at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Agbalaka scored the decisive goal to give the Flying Eagles their first win in the tournament and move them from the bottom to second position in Group A.
He was awarded the Man of the Match Award for being the match winner having scored a powerful header from Aminu Muhammadu's corner-kick in the 71st minute.
Excited about the award and outcome of the match, the defender said: "We deserved to win.
"Worked very hard, so I would like to thank my coach and all my colleagues for their efforts.
"I'm very happy with the result of the match.
"The match was not easy as we were facing the hosts."
Up next, the seven times African champions will face Mozambique who are bottom of the group in their final group fixture on Saturday.
