The Flying Eagles have received a cash reward of $3,000 for beating Argentina in the last 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Ladan Bosso's men comfortably won 2-0 to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The cash gift was given to them by the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Board member, Nse Essien, who promised on the eve of the game to reward the Eagles if they sealed victory in San Juan.
Captain Daniel Bameyi received the reward on behalf of his teammates while Essien admonished the Eagles not to relent.
“Gentlemen, I am here to salute you on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation for your excellent performance against the host Argentina on Wednesday,” Essien told the players.
"I want to assure you that Nigerians are solidly behind you, play for your family, play for yourself and play for Nigeria.
“I urge you to remain focused and be relentless, be disciplined, committed and follow up instructions from the coach.”
The Eagles will next battle the winner between Korea Republic and Ecuador in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
