Two firms have joined resources dedicated to the research and studies of coronavirus, according to the UAE's WAM agency.

This deal comes after the UAE and Israel - where the collaborating firms are based - reached a diplomatic resolution to end their strained relationship, making the UAE the third country in the Arab region to restore diplomatic relations with Israel.

In a statement, WAM said that both parties - APEX National Investment (UAE) and TeraGroup (Israel) - signed the “strategic commercial agreement” on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Chairman of APEX, Khalifa Yousef Khouri, said, “We are delighted with this cooperation with TeraGroup, which is considered the first business to inaugurate trade, economy and effective partnerships between the Emirati and Israeli business sectors."

He also stated that the deal between both parties will be “serving humanity by strengthening research and studies on the novel coronavirus."

Speaking on the deal, the Chairman of TeraGroup, Oren Sadiv, said, “We are thrilled with our agreement with APEX National Investment, and hope that we will achieve the objectives outlined in this agreement, which in turn will benefit everyone economically."

With both nations coming together to ease their decades-old animus, Israel agreed to halt its planned expropriation of some sections of the West Bank, an agreement that pleases European governments and other Araba governments along the West.
