UAE President, Iraqi PM Meet Over Development

The UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa’ al-Sudani in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Al-Sudani received a guard of honour welcome upon his arrival at the Qasr al-Watan palace in the UAE capital.

The Iraqi leader is on an official visit to the country.

Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that, at the Abu Dhabi airport, the minister was received by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed and a number of officials.

The visit also follows a call between the two leaders on Saturday where they discussed aspects of cooperation and joint work between the two countries.

Also, both discussed many ways to develop their countries and achieve their common interests.

The duo also reportedly reviewed issues of mutual concern, stressing their mutual keenness to continue consultations.

It comes a day after Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan visited Baghdad and held a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

In 2021, the UAE announced it will invest $3 billion to enhance economic and investment ties in Iraq.
