UAE Reconsidering Visa Restriction On Nigerian Travellers

UAE Reconsidering Visa Restriction On Nigerian Travellers

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is said to be considering the reversal on the visa restrictions it placed on Nigerians.

This is coming after the Nigerian Government placed a ban on the operations of the Emirates Airlines.

The Federal Government's ban on the operations of Emirates Airlines in the country after the UAE had denied Nigerian travellers new visas came after stakeholders in the aviation sector mounted substantial pressure.

On the ban of Emirates Airlines, the management of the airline said, “We have met with the Nigerian government on this issue, and we assured them that we will resolve it. We are presently working on it.

“I hope this issue will be resolved before Monday. One thing I will assure you is that the issue will be resolved earlier than expected.”

A tweet by the Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, disclosed that the ban would take effect to day.

Sirika tweeted, “Emirates Airlines’ situation was reviewed, and they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday, September 21, 2020.”

The Nigerian Government had warned that it would ban airlines from countries that restricted entry for Nigerian travellers.
