On Tuesday at Estadio da Luz, Clinical Benfica delivered a crushing 5-1 defeat to Club Brugge, knocking them out of the Champions League and securing their own spot in the quarterfinals with a 7-1 aggregate score.
The opening goal came in the 38th minute, courtesy of Rafa Silva, who dribbled past two defenders and unleashed a left-footed strike into the net, following a counter-attack initiated by Goncalo Ramos.
Ramos, who had sprinted up the left channel, delivered a cross to the far post.
Ramos continued his impressive performance by scoring twice, either side of halftime.
In the 71st minute, Joao Mario extended Benfica's lead by converting a penalty before substitute David Neres netted a fifth goal just six minutes later.
Although Bjorn Meijer got a consolation goal for Brugge in the 87th minute, it was too little too late for the shell-shocked visitors.
