UCL: Borussia Dortmund hold advantage, pip Kylian Mbappe's P

Borussia Dortmund have the advantage going into the second leg of the semifinals fixtures against PSG next week Tuesday following their 1-0 win at the Signa Iduna Park on Wednesday night.

In a game that was their third head-to-head meeting in the competition, the German side showed no inferiority against the Ligue 1 champions with directness of their play, their aggression and tenacity.

Niclas Fullkrug brushed aside the challenge of Ashraf Hakimi, controlled the ball brilliantly with one foot and dispatched the ball with the less dominant left foot in the 36th minute.

Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer was presented with a chance to double Dortmund's lead on the stroke of half-time but his close-range volley was superbly saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG wasted several good chances to equalise especially in the second half, Kylian Mbappe and Ashraf Hakimi both curling an effort inside of the post and hitting the woodwork respectively.

On-loan Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho whose performance was described by an English newspaper as 'Sansational' teed up goal scorer, Fullkrug, but the Germany international blazed over five yards out.

Overall, PSG controlled much of the first half but failed to record a shot on target while Dortmund carved out opportunities.

The slim scoreline leaves the tie delicately balanced for the second leg at Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
