Manchester United travels to France to face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc de Princes for the first match of the UEFA Champions League 2020-21 season group stage.

AllNews understands that United defeated PSG in France during the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League after losing 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Thomas Tuchel will have some of his top players back by Tuesday after some could not participate in the Ligue 1 fixture on Friday against Nimes which ended 0-4 as Mbappe was on target.

Manchester United knocked off their poor start into the EPL 2020-21 season as they defeat Newcastle 1-4 scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes to give them all three points at the St James Park.

Paris Saint-Germain (UEFA Build-up)

Paris Saint-Germain had a poor start to their season losing on the first two opening matches against Lens and Marseille.

The latter match ended in a fight leading to the dismissal of several players in the squad after five red cards were issued in the match.

Further investigation, attracted sanctions to Neymar, Di Maria, and Paredes.

Before the match, they were hit by waves of COVID-19 positive tests to Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria, Paredes, Keylor Navas, and others.

The last season finalist has since regained their stride winning their last 5 games with a clean sheet each.

Thomas Tuchel still has some worries ahead of the game with Marco Veratti, Mauro Icardi, and Paredes's availability in doubt.

The French capital club has also been active during the summer transfer window bringing in Florenzi from Roma, Rafinha from Barcelona, Moise Keane from Everton (Loan), Sergio Rico from Sevilla, and Danilo Pereira from Porto.

The hole Thiago Silva left behind is also something for the French Champs to worry about as they not just lost a veteran defender but also a leader at the back.

PSG is one of the contenders for the Champions League this season with the players in their ranks and United will be the first to face them after the defeat in Lisbon.

Keylor Navas will be important for the Parisians with his experience with Real Madrid - part of the squad who won the La Decima and complete a back to back win of the trophy with Zinedine Zidane.

Gueye will likely replace Paredes in the defensive midfield position, Rafinha could be used also after a wonderful debut performance, Di Maria could be used with Mbappe and Neymar up front.

Florenzi will be used in his right-back position, Marquinhos and Kimpembe with either Bernat or Kurzawa on the left - Kehrer also could be used to provide healthy competition for the older players.

Manchester United (UEFA Build-up)

United will be traveling to Paris off the back of a stellar performance against Newcastle but should not forget how fragile the team is behind especially with De Gea prone to error, Maguire miscalculations, Shaw errors.

New signing Donny Van de Beek has proved time and again that he fits into the team and should be chosen ahead of Pogba or MCcTominay or Fred in the middle of the pack.

He scored a debut goal at Old Trafford on matchday 1 against Crystal Palace though was not enough to win the game and have since been more active whenever he is brought in.

Van de Beek could come in handy for Ole Solskjaer against a depleted PSG midfield with the French side likely to play from the wings through Mbappe and Neymar.

The style that had helped United is the counter-attacking press, especially when playing against attacking teams like PSG in the EPL but yet to absorb all the attack and wait for a chance to break in a counter-attack could be very dangerous.

Not just because of error which the United players are very much prone to but also drawing much of the opponent high up into the field - possibility of a deflection, aerial chances, or morale drop as the game runs out.

One of the problems United has faced recently is the absence of a point man in attack, a real No. 9, a box-to-box striker capable of scoring with his back turned at the opposition's post which Martial nor Rashford has not been able to do.

The Portuguese playmaker who joined United from Sporting Lisbon, Bruno Fernandes has been a regular starter and key player to any if not all Red Devils win since the start of 2020.

He won the United player of the year and several player-of-the-month awards, the man of the match accolades in the EPL.

Bruno's vision passes, runs, positioning, penalty taking have all contributed to the former Lisbon skipper stats at Old Trafford with 12 goals and 8 assists for the 2019-20 season.

He is now on 3 goals and 3 assists heading into the fixture in all competition.

Manchester United shared ex-players with PSG after the signing of Edinson Cavani and the sale of Ander Herrera. Cavani could also be used later in the game against PSG tapping into the Uruguayan experience.
