UCL: Saka, Trossard cancel goals from former Premier League stars in 2-2 draw

UCL: Saka, Trossard cancel goals from former Premier League

Arsenal rescued a vital 2-2 draw at home against Champions League nemesis Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarterfinals meetings at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday night, reports Allnews.ng.

Anglo-Nigerian Bukayo Saka got the Gunners in front in the 12th minute as he waltzed his way past the Bayern defence to find the bottom right corner.

The lead did not however last long as former Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry equalised six minutes later after a sloppy piece of defending by the otherwise impressive Arsenal backline.
The equaliser had come after Arsenal fullback Ben White wasted a good chance to further extend their lead but fired the ball straight at goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

In the 32nd minute, William Saliba brought down former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane inside the box to hand the visitors a chance to lead through the penalty which Harry Kane, back in London after last summer's exit from Tottenham Hotspur, converted.

Second half substitute Leandro Trossard got Mikel Arteta's side level in the 76th minute with an emphatic finish at the edge of the 18-yard box as the home side went all-gun blazing in search of an equaliser after a couple of Bayern's counter-attacking threats.

Saka was brought down inside the box by Neuer in the closing stages of the game but the referee ruled that the touch was insufficient to award a penalty sparking an emotional outburst from the England international.

The game, like the fixture in Spain between Real Madrid and Man City, was under the threat of attack by the ISIS terrorist group although the matches went ahead as planned.

The return leg holds next week Wednesday at the Bayern Arena.
