UCL: Sevilla Keep Hope Alive With 3-0 Win Over Copenhagen

Isco Celebrates Goal v Copenhagen

Rejuvenated Sevilla under Jorge Sampaoli kept their chances of qualification alive barely with a 3-0 win over lowly Copenhagen with Isco scoring his first goal for his new side.

Morocco forward En-Nesyri opened the scoring after an initial penalty call was cancelled, Isco made it a double while Gonzalo Montiel had the final say in a 3-nil second-half goal fest

Sevilla have to win their next game against Manchester City and hope Borussia Dortmund lose their game later on Tuesday against English Champions.

Under Julian Lopetegui, a loss to Dortmund, and a draw against Copenhagen have cost Sevilla a clearer chance of qualification with a late fight under Sampaoli not enough to save them from dropping to the Europa League.

They showed their class against Copenhagen with the 3 goals but it appears too late to be enough to send them through to the last 16.

The win ended Sevilla's run of seven matches without a win at home in all competitions (D3 L4) while the loss ended Danish side Copenhagen's campaign in Europe.
