Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi has put his name in the spotlight with a stunning length-of-the-field goal that secured a 1-0 victory against Chelsea in their Champions League Round of 16 clash on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old forward's superb goal came in the second half of the match when Dortmund was already exerting sustained dominance over their opponents. Adeyemi pounced on a clearance from a Chelsea corner and, sensing the opportunity, ran the length of the field.

He rounded both Enzo Fernandez and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to give Dortmund the decisive lead that earned them the win.
While the match was significant for Dortmund's success, it also put a spotlight on Chelsea's recent spending spree. The visitors' individual quality and speed on the counter was apparent throughout the game, but they were unable to convert it into a goal.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter may still be figuring out how to get his squad of expensive newcomers to work together as a team, but their individual quality and speed on the counter was evident. Mykhailo Mudryk's pace troubled the home side frequently early on, forcing Dortmund central defender Niklas Suele into a looping backheeled clearance after 15 minutes.
Despite dominating possession, Dortmund was vulnerable to Chelsea's counter-attacking raids. The best chance of the opening half fell to Chelsea's Joao Felix, whose attempt hit the crossbar. Wolf almost put Dortmund in front close to halftime, but his curling shot drifted wide.
Chelsea dominated the early stages of the second half, forcing Dortmund midfielder Emre Can into a yellow card when he took down an advancing Reece James. However, the German goalkeeper, Gregor Kobel, saved the free-kick to ease the pressure.
James went one-on-one with Kobel again after 60 minutes, but the Swiss 'keeper tipped his shot over the bar. Chelsea's corner pinballed around in the box, and despite an offside flag, the referee played the advantage as the ball was cleared into the path of Adeyemi.
The young forward's goal demonstrated his impressive skill, and he has been gaining attention for his performances in recent months. Adeyemi was officially clocked as the fastest player in Bundesliga history earlier in February, and his stunning goal has further cemented his position as one of the most exciting young prospects in the game.
