Match Overview

Spain was more of the weaker side with the Germans pressing ever strong in the final third of the Spanish side. Loss of goals by Sane, Timo Werner left the scoreline at 1-0 till the final whistle.

Timo Werner opener was sensational leaving a brilliant De Gea dumbfounded between the sticks after a well-struck shot ended at the back of the net.

A foul from Ramos also kept Spain from leveling the score earlier before 80 minutes after a lovely header from Ansu Fati was declared off because of the earlier foul in the build-up.

Jose Gaya just at the end of the 4 minutes extra time, headed in Spain's goal in the match to keep the score at 1-1

Talking points

1. Spain Defensive holes

Sergio Ramos has been one of the backbones of Spanish defense for years, though his aggression and reading of the game is still awesome, he needs a better understanding with Francisco Torres because time and again the Germans were tearing the defense apart and if not fir their loss of goal chances, the match could have ended with at least 4 goal chances even with De Gea brilliant saves.

2. Timo Werner a better 9 for Chelsea

In-game, the new Chelsea man was very good with positioning and always very good keeping the off-side flag down but he needs a supporting striker. He is a player capable of beating 2 defenders with his runs, pace, and positioning but after doing this he might be too exhausted or closed down to finish the ball. Frank Lampard could pair him with a more attacking midfielder who would follow him into attack or a pace winger that would be on hand to tuck in the ball.

3. Leroy Sane, another explosive to Bayern Munich

The European Champions, Bayern Munich has added Leroy Sane to their books and that should instill fear to clubs around Europe's heart even those not in Europe since they will be meeting at the FIFA World Club's cup. His runs, dribbles, cutting edge passes, shooting ability was spectacular and if not for De Gea's own brilliance, it would have been a disaster for Spain.

Throughout the game except for the dying minutes, Germany was 2-3 steps ahead of the Spaniards in play, counter-attacking strikes, defensively and almost in every department on the pitch.

4. Thiago Alcantara, the best holding midfielder in the World

The La Masia graduate has been hinted to joining Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp no doubt saw Thursday night match. His movement, vision, passes and the long-range attempt has even redefined the primary role of a central midfielder. Once Bousquet was out, he dropped back to a more defensive role but he was even then more attacking pushing the Germans back with dribbles and run. He does his defense by attacking.

Jurgen Klopp would be awaiting the return from International duties to poach the Bayern player but he should be aware that other potential suitors are watching too.

5. Ansu Fati is a Worldie in the making

Ansu Fati was very confident in the match, he is barely 18 years and his confidence on and off the ball all around the pitch was magnificent.

He entered as a substitution for Jesus Navas (who was also spectacular playing like a teenager with so much energy), he (Ansu Fati) was sensational in the match running at defense forcing the opponent to push back - which later resulted into a dying minutes leveler by Jose Gaya (another sensation player).

Spain

Trapp (6.8), Emre Can (7.4 man of the match), Sule (6.3), Rudiger (6.5), Kehrer (6.7), Gundogan (7.0), Kroos (7.0), Gosens (6.5), Draxler (6.9), Sane (6.5), Werner (7.3)
