UEL: Man Utd Hold Barca To 2-2 Draw At Camp Nou

Barca v Man Utd

Manchester United hold Barcelona to a 2-2 draw to halt their winning streak at Camp Nou on Thursday with Pedri subbed off injured.

A surprise change in the backline as Marcus Alonso came in for Andrea Christensen in the defence and Jordi Alba started on the left ahead of Alejandro Balde.

The two teams went toe-to-toe for a game that would usually take place in the Champions League but with the recent transitions at the clubs, they are meeting in the Europa League playoffs.

Barca started off as usual with a high tempo and within the first 10 minutes, Robert Lewandowski tested David De Gea but the Spaniard goalkeeper was up to it.

While Wout Weghorst came to score for Man Utd but Ter Stegen blocked it.

But the tempo dropped as soon as Pedri was subbed off.

The statement by the club is Pedri has a right thigh injury. Further tests pending to determine the exact extent of the injury.

Barca opened the scoring on the night with a header by Marcus Alonso from the corner kick.

Man Utd responded almost immediately as Fred played in Marcus Rashford and he put a low ball past Ter Stegen in the near post to make it 1-1.

The Red Devils' momentum built as they put pressure on the tight-Barcelona defence that have conceded just seven goals this season in La Liga.

They broke under pressure as Jules Kounde in a bid to defend put the ball in the back of his net.

This gave Man Utd the lead in Camp Nou.

Xavi Hernandez quickly restored his backline as he subbed off Alonso, and Alba and brought in Christensen and Balde.

Raphinha eventually restore parity for Barca as he sent in a cross, Lewandowski tries to tap it in, De Gea miscued and the ball went into the net.

Man Utd will now go to Old Trafford with the confidence that they can use fans and home advantage to overcome Barcelona with several of their players back from suspension and injury.

Barca will also hope Busquets, Dembele will be back because Gavi (suspended) and Pedri might miss the next game in England.
