The government of the UK said that it does not accept the just-concluded "fraudulent" Belarus presidential election which re-installed Alexander Lukashenko.
Speaking on the elections, the UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, said that there should be an independent probe into the election.
Raab said that the elections in Belarus were marred by the violence that "suppressed the peaceful protests" that accompanied the "fraudulent presidential election."
He said, “The world has watched with horror at the violence used by the Belarusian authorities to suppress the peaceful protests that followed this fraudulent presidential election. The UK does not accept the results."
He also added that the UK will collaborate with foreign partners to ensure that those who are responsible for the violence will be held to account.

Raab said, “The UK will work with our international partners to sanction those responsible, and hold the Belarusian authorities to account."
Belarusians took to the streets after the result of the elections was announced, kicking against the declaration of Lukashenko as the winner after spending 26 years in power.
The protest is described by a news media platform as one of the largest in the history of the country.
Over 6,700 protestors have been arrested, while two people have lost their lives, with hundreds of others sustaining injuries.
