Ukraine Hands 50 Prisoners Over To Russia In Exchange Deal

Russia’s Defence Ministry has said Ukraine handed over 50 captured Russian service personnel on Thursday in the latest prisoner exchange between the two sides.

Earlier on Thursday, the top Russian-installed official in Ukraine’s partly-occupied Donetsk region said both countries would each hand over 50 prisoners of war.

Russia said it would fly the released prisoners to Moscow for medical checks and rehabilitation.

The two countries has been in the trade of prison exchange for some time as in November, 45 Ukrainian soldiers were freed in a prisoner exchange with Russia.

The prisoner exchange was the latest in a series since Russia’s Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine.

Russian forces and equipment were also transferred to the eastern bank of the Dnieper.
