Umahi To Mbaka: Southeast Governors Will Soon Secure Kanu's

By Ikpechukwu Ojobor

The Chairman of Southeast Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi has revealed that the forum and its stakeholders will soon secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the separatist group, Indigenous People Of Biafra.

Umahi made this known when he alongside his Enugu State counterpart, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi attended the thanksgiving and harvest service of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka's Adoration Ministry on Sunday.

Umahi also seized the opportunity to plead with Mbaka to tone down on his attacks and criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration especially as the president plans to visit the zone next month.

He also revealed that the governors and other concerned groups including Ohanaeze Ndigbo were working for the immediate release of the detained leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Mbaka who was once an ardent supporter of President Buhari has in recent times publicly criticized his handling of Mbaka national issues such as rising insecurity, youth unemployment and dwindling economy.

The priest had also condemned the arrest and incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu calling for his immediate release.

On his part, Mbaka advised Nigerian leaders to provide good governance to the masses who elected them.

It was learnt that Umahi donated N30 million, 200 tubers of yam and 100 bags of rice during the thanksgiving service.
