The Caretaker Chairman of Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, Garba Umar, has called for people to vote for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for a second term in the state.
Umar said the governor has achieved a lot in the local government to improve the livelihood of people.
He noted that the governor has worked on numerous impactful projects which the previous administration had failed to execute.
The chairman made this known on Tuesday at the flag-off ceremony of an empowerment programme by the State's First Lady, Hajiya Asma'u Inuwa Yahaya in the LGA.
He assured the First Lady that his people would rally round to ensure the governor's victory in the forthcoming general elections.
He added that as a show of appreciation to the governor and the First Lady, the people of Balanga would vote for all the candidates under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections.
He stressed that the governor Yahaya-led administration has been doing well for the people, hence the need to return the favour by voting him back.
Meanwhile, the First Lady while flagging-off the women empowerment programme explained that 2,200 women were to benefit from 44 million naira direct cash transfer in the LGA.
In similar gesture across other LGAs in the state, the First Lady said while a set of 2,540 women were to get a bag of rice each, 2,540 other women would get a bag of maize each.
She added that 2,540 were to receive one parcel of wrappers each.
Women groups in the LGA also benefitted from the support of N1.1 million from the First Lady.
With the number of beneficiaries in the council area reaching over 14,000, she assured them of more dividends of democracy.
She noted that the empowerment programme was to support the women improve their standard of living as they contribute to the wellbeing of their family.
The First Lady had executed similar gesture in Dukku Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
Also in their separate remarks, wife of the Deputy Governor, Deborah Manassah Daniel Jatau and the state's Commissioner of Water Resources, Hon. Mijinyawa Yahaya called the people to reciprocate the gesture by voting governor Yahaya and all other candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
