Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji has adjourned UmmuKulsum murder case till October 4, when the accused Geng Guanrong of Chinese origin would be arraigned.

Guanrong was caught shortly after he stabbed his Nigerian girlfriend, UmmuKulsum Sani Buhari in her room at Jan Bulo in Kano on a Friday night.

In Thursday's sitting, the accused sought that he should be given time to contact his counsel to represent him.

Responding, Kano State Attorney General, Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawan didn’t raise objection to the defendant’s prayer to adjourn the matter.

“Obviously this case will not go on today without a counsel, standing for the defendant. It is capital in nature. In the circumstances we apply for a short adjournment to enable defendant get a lawyer,” he affirmed.

Consquently, Justice Ma,aji adjourned the case until 4th October, 2022 for arraignment
