UN-POLAC Gifts 30,000 Books To UNILAG International School

The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) in a bid to promote education has donated 3,000 exercise books to  the International School, University of Lagos (ISL).

As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the National Director of Programmes, UN-POLAC, Patricia Agu said the gifting was to promote and sustain peace via education.

The Director said the noble gesture, which was to get the school ready, was a way to reduce social vices in the student's education.

“When the children are educated, they will keep away from crimes as well.

“We are also trying to alleviate poverty in our country by investing in education as well as ameliorating the burdens on parents,” Agu said.

The UN-POLAC Youth Ambassador, Emmanuel Okegbue, also said the need for sustainable development and improvement for the promotion of culture of security and peace is one important delegations of the organisation.

Okegbue, an alumnus of ISL, advised that individuals should contribute to the infrastructural development of their alma maters, stating that that would bring about improvement in education.
