Under Pressure Potter Expresses Worry Over Mental Health

Graham Potter

Chelsea boss Graham Potter on Friday expressed worry over his mental health following his arrival at the Bridge.

The former Brighton manager has been in the eye of the storm in recent weeks as Chelsea have had a poor run of results under his watch.

The Blues have managed just one win in their last 10 matches in all competitions and are in 10th position in the league.

"With the results as they are, you accept criticism," said Potter ahead of Sunday's trip to Tottenham.

"That should come. That's fair.

"The mood here has always been positive and respectful.

"That's not to say it's easy at all.

"The family suffers, the mental health suffers, personally it's hard - no-one cares, that's the way it is."

He attributed Chelsea's poor run of results to a "worst pre-season" long before he was appointed as the new manager.

"Speaking to a few of the experienced guys, they said it was the worst pre-season they've had," he added.

"Organisationally, the tour didn't work as well as they'd like. I wasn't there so I can't say.

"We thought we made progress, but the first half against Southampton was below par.

"The sky can fall. These are some of the facts.

"Inconvenient facts, but that's the situation."
