The University of Benin's Vice-Chancellor, Lilian Salami, said that 27 percent of 2020/2021 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates failed the screening exam into the university.
According to the data made available to the vice-chancellor by the university's Chairman of the POST-UTME Committee, Ehimwenma Omoregie, of the 19,987 candidates that took the exam, only 14,515 passed.

It was also disclosed that some 802 candidates experienced technical difficulties during the exam and that 99 percent of those candidates re-sat the exam.
