In a bid to proffer a solution to the current gridlock situation at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), the institution says it is in talks with the Kwara State Government to complete the flyover construction on the University Road.
According to a statement signed by Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs, Unilorin, on Tuesday, the university seeks the timely completion of the bridge, alongside other interventions to ease the congestion.
Akogun expressed the institution's concern with the challenges faced by its students due to the traffic jam.
“We want to assure all that measures are being put in place to ease this difficulty in the shortest possible time.
“The management is also considering the possibility of reviving the virtual lecture option, especially for large classes, to reduce the necessity of having a large number of students on the road at peak periods.
“Arrangements had already been concluded to bring in big buses for a massive movement of students but they could not be deployed yet due to the Flyover construction on the University Road,” he explained.
The Director pleaded with the students to be patient while coordinated efforts were being made to fix the deplorable transportation situation.
“The welfare of our students remains the mainstay of the Management and this will not be compromised for any reason,” he assured.
