The World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated the University of Ilorin's Community-Based Experience and Services (COBES) as a collaborative centre for research and workforce development.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences at the university, Professor Sulyman Alabi, on Monday announced that academic staff at the college have secured research grants as principal investigators for projects such as Severe Malaria and Africa Kidney Disease Research Network.

Sulyman made this known when he led the Top Management Committee (TMC) of the college on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, on Monday.

He praised the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), for his support of the college and asked for continued support for critical needs.

In response, Egbewole acknowledged the visit and praised the College of Health Sciences as a crucial part of the university, stating that a significant portion of the university's budget is allocated to the college and promising to support its advancement.

He also noted that running a medical school is expensive, but that Unilorin is committed to making the college the top medical training school in Nigeria.
