UNILORIN Students Execute 14 Projects In Kwara Communities

Students of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have completed 14 projects in communities across Kwara State.

The students executed the projects as part of the 2022 Community-Based Experience and Service (COBES).

 The Faculty Coordinator of the 2022 COBES programme, Dr Muslim Sunmonu disclosed his in Ilorin on Tuesday.

According to Sunmonu, COBES is an annual exercise for the 400-level students of the faculty.

Sunmonu said the projects had been delivered to 12 communities in three Local Government Areas – Irepodun, Asa and Ilorin East.

The beneficiary communities according to him were Ilala, Afon, Ogbondoroko, Alufa, Sapati Ile, Okanle, Oke-Ose, Apado, Iponrin, Okeya-p, Owu-Isin, and Amoyo.

He stated that the projects included painting, renovation of schools, mounting solar street lights at various locations, and fixing and repairs of abandoned boreholes.

Sunmonu added that the students also carried out renovation of Mosques and palaces, fixing access roads, repairs of dilapidated school buildings, erection of bus-stop, and rehabilitation of boreholes and water supply systems.

In his remark, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Olumuyiwa Lasode, expressed happiness with the community projects executed by the students.

Lasode congratulated the students on the successful completion of the programme, expressing hope for greater achievement in the next COBES exercise.
