UNILORIN VC Tasks Revenue Units Staff On Increased IGR

Wahab Egbewole

The discouraging return on investment experienced by the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) having spent so much on its revenue-generating units, has led the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN) to request the staff of the units to think creatively.

The VC who doubles as the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the institution urged the unit to increase the university’s Internally Generated Revenue base when he led the members of the committee on a two-day campus-wide visit to investment facilities in the university.

Egbewole who stated that the improvement of the institution's revenue base was his administration's focus, pledged support to revitalise all the revenue-generating units in the university.

He urged the heads of the facilities to expand the revenue base through creative thinking, noting that they would also benefit from the expansion.

Lamenting the deplorable state of revenue, the university Don emphasised that the units were established to benefit the state and the nation and should succeed in doing so.

Egbewole proposed that such facilities be protected from strike actions, adding that the visit would improve the management's doings.

Unilorin Microfinance Bank, the Central Research Lab, the Optometry Centre, the Molecular Lab, the Zoological Garden and Unilorin FM Radio were visited by the committee according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
