Unknown Gunmen Attack Owo Again, Injuries Recorded

Another attack has been recorded in Owo town in Ondo State on Wednesday night.

According to information made available by eyewitnesses, many people were injured in the second attack on the ancient town.

The attack was carried out at Folahami Junction, where a construction company called Craneburg Construction Company was located.

Eyewitnesses say the gunmen opened fire on those at the site.

Also, it was disclosed that explosive devices were used during the attack.

The Ondo State Police Command also confirmed the attack.

This was made known in a tweet posted in its official Twitter handle.

When contacted, the command spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident and said three persons were injured during the shootout in the town

Odunlami said she could not confirm if the attackers were terrorists or bandits.

"Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company Owo.

"Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to the hospital and they are in stable condition.

”We can not ascertain the casualty figure now and we also cannot say it was a terrorists’ attack with the use of explosives devices but tomorrow (Thursday) morning, the EOD men of the command would go to the scene.”

Odunlami appealed to residents not to panic as the situation was under control.

Terrorists had on June 5, 2022, attacked the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, killing over 40 worshippers and injuring dozens of parishioners during a Sunday service.

The terrorist attack on the church which was described as a massacre, drew condemnation from both local and international organisations.
