UNN VC Installed As Patron Of Enugu Sports Club

The Enugu Sports Club has installed the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof Charles Igwe as patron of the club.

Other persons who were equally installed are Prof. Mike Nwafor of Godfrey Okoye University and MD Enugu State Housing Corporation, Chukwuemelie Agu.

The Executive Chairman of Enugu Sports Club, Barr. Henry Nwosu who spoke during event said the investiture was to raise men and women of great repute and integrity to stand as pillar of support to the club.

He, however, regretted the challenges militating against the smooth operation and administration of the club to includes, infrastructural decay, paucity of fund.

He lauded the support of the President of the club, Enugu State governor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Trustee member, Prof Bartho Okolo and others, stressing that their financial and advisy roles help them to tackle some challenges in line with his campaign promises.

"We have gathered here today to perform and bear witness to the esteemed ceremony of the investiture of new Patrons of the club.

"A patron of the club is consequently a person who has been conferred with honour of a special guardian, protector, provider and benefactor to the club.

"I am proud to announce that we have so far recorded over sixty notable achievement in this direction since the inception of this administration.

"In a very special way, I must express our gratitude to the President of Enugu Sports Club, who is also the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his immeasurable support that saw to the sustainability and growth of of our dear club. Our appreciation also goes to club trustees led by Prof, Bartho Okolo for their financial and advisory roles."

In appreciation, Prof. Igwe expressed satisfaction to the elite club for choosing him as their patron, stressing that he would answer the clarion call of the club.
