US President Biden To Visit Israel Amid Escalating Gaza Conflict, Humanitarian Crisis

US President Biden To Visit Israel Amid Escalating Gaza Conf

In a high-stakes diplomatic move, US President Joe Biden is set to visit Israel on Wednesday as tensions rise in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

This visit comes as the world watches an escalating offensive in Gaza that has triggered a severe humanitarian crisis and raised concerns about a broader regional conflict, particularly involving Iran.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday declared that President Biden would visit Israel.

“The president will hear from Israel what it needs to defend its people as we continue to work with Congress to meet those needs,” Blinken told reporters.

Biden's visit to Israel takes place in the backdrop of an intensifying offensive against Hamas fighters, which began after a series of attacks by Hamas on southern Israel in early October.

The death toll in Israel has climbed to a staggering 1,400 people as of Tuesday.

The situation in Gaza has worsened significantly, with Israel tightening its blockade on the Hamas-ruled territory.

Measures include restricting fuel supplies and conducting airstrikes that have led to the deaths of over 2,800 Palestinians and the displacement of hundreds of thousands.

Biden's itinerary also includes a visit to Jordan to meet with King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. This diplomatic outreach aims to address the broader regional implications of the conflict.
