Usyk beats Fury in 'Ring of Fire' classic in Riyahd

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk won early Sunday morning's blockbuster heavyweight clash in Riyahd, Saudi Arabia against Tyson Fury on a split-decision.

The scorecards read 115-112 and 114-113 for the Ukrainian, with a third judge scoring it 114-113 to Briton, Fury.

The heavyweight bout, billed as 'Ring of Fire' was touted as the biggest fighting showpiece in heavyweight boxing in the past 25 years and it did live up to expectation.

The fight was graced by some of sports' biggest stars like Anthony Joshua, Cristiano Ronaaldo and Jose Mourinho.

Fury began bullishly but was given a standing 10 count and eventually saved by the bell after Usyk took the fight to another levels in the ninth round.

Usyk broke down in tears when the announcer delared him the winner much to the dismay of Fury who looked assured of victory at the end of the dramatic bout which was Fury's first defeat in his 16-year professional career albeit he will get an immediate opportunity for revenge with a rematch planned for later this year.
