UTME: Candidates Lament Issues Experienced During 2022 Examination, Seek Solutions

UTME: Candidates Lament Issues Experienced During 2022 Exami

After the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the board on Thursday released the statistics of the exercise in a tweet.

According to the tweet made through the board's official handle, @JAMBHQ, 1,761,338 candidates registered to sit the 2022 UTME, 1,707,626 sat the UTME, 1,671,203 results were released, 27,105 results were further being screened, 69 results have been withheld and 1,783 candidates were to be scheduled to write as a result of biometric challenges.

Reacting to the tweet, some candidates and relatives of others made their concerns known to the Board in the comment section.

According to Omar, some students were denied taking the exercise because had problems logging in.

He added that it was unfair that JAMB was yet to say anything about the problem.

"THIS LOGGING FAILURE DENIED MANY STUDENTS TO WRITE THEIR PAPERS AND NO WORDS FROM JAMB YET. I THINK IS NOT FAIR", he wrote.

Another Twitter user whose handle is Boom lamented that some candidates scored lower than expected because no information was provided for some questions.

The user said while some candidates left such questions unanswered, others picked answers to them randomly.

"JAMB still haven't said anything regarding those that did their exam with "NO INFORMATION' being provided. You ppl just kept MUTE.

"Some left the questions like, some just picked what they like. Which has now resulted in some scoring low marks than expected. ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!," Boom lamented.

Akinfolarin with Twitter handle Lengendary_Lumzee said his sister was not allowed sit for the exercise after being rescheduled.

"My sister registered and was scheduled for examination but on the day she was to write the exam, it was said that the day has passed, despite having her reprinted copy and it was said that the issue affected every candidate scheduled to write their exam in that school," he explained.

Muazzam Sani Garba also said his nephew was yet to see his result even after sending several texts to the board.

"My nephew sat for the exam but he still didn't get his result after sending text messages for result checking several times," Garba wrote.
