Uzodinma, Okorocha mend fences as former governor's aides may make list of new cabinet

Uzodinma, Okorocha mend fences as former governor's aides ma

Government House sources have revealed that Governor Hope Uzodinma have penciled down some of his predecessors' aides for appointments in his soon-to-be released list of cabinet.

Recall that since Uzodinma assumed office in 2020, following the Supreme Court judgment that ushered him as the Governor of Imo State, he (Uzodinma) had been at loggerheads with the former Governor, Rochas Okorocha over revocation and confiscation of government properties allegedly diverted to Okorocha's personal properties.

Governor Uzodinma reclaimed among other properties, the Eastern Palm University Ogboko in Ideato-South, Rochas College of Africa in Orji, East High Academy and many more.

Also Royal Spring apartment formerly belonging to the former Governor's wife, was seized by Uzodinma-led government upon inception.

The rift between the two escalated further when Okorocha, a founding member of All Progressives Congress (APC) found himself marginalized in a party he helped establish.

Despite his political stature and tenure as a serving Senator of Orlu zone, Okorocha who vied for Presidential ticket of APC received zero votes from Imo State during the party's Presidential Primary in 2023 in Abuja.

However, recent developments suggest possible romance between the political duo as Okorocha's close allies are reportedly being considered for positions in the new cabinet.

Government House source further hinted that Uzodinma not only entertains inputs from Okorocha but also solicited feedback from other key stakeholders in the state regarding the composition of the new cabinet.

The source said, "this inclusive approach only reflects the Governor's willingness to mend fences with his predecessor and foster unity by collaborating with all Imo political elites to move the stye forward."

The Governor, after his second term inauguration on the 15th of January, 2024, had left the state for a holiday, but only intermittently visits the state for special government outings.

On the 16th of January, 2024, the Governor dissolved all his cabinet leaving behind his Chief Press Secretary, Oguike Nwachukwu, who has been doing some more releases.

This delay in releasing the cabinet list and his absence from the state has further crippled all government activities and put the state to high expectancy.

But another Government House source disclosed that all is now set for the Governor to announce his new appointees, adding that the former Governor's aides were largely considered in the new cabinet.
