Vanessa Bryant has won the case to name the four Los Angeles County Sheriff Department (LASD) deputies who allegedly took and shared photos of the scene of the helicopter crash that killed NBA legend, Kobe Bryant.
Attorneys of the police officers made efforts in trying to conceal the names, arguing that ‘hackers may attempt to seek out and gain access to the individual deputies' devices to locate any photographs and publish them that they might become targets of hackers.’

However, US District Judge John Walter, refuted the argument, noting that it is 'totally inconsistent with their position that such photographs no longer exist.’
With the ruling, Vanessa and her attorneys can now add the names of the deputy officers involved in the Kobe investigation in their amended complaint in her civil rights lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department led by Alex Villanueva.
The NBA legend died in January 2020, in a helicopter crash in Calabasas alongside nine others including his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. The crew was travelling in a private helicopter when it burst into flames above the city of Calabasas.
Kobe was one of the biggest players to ever play in the NBA.
