Varsity Lecturer Criticises Aisha Buhari Over Student's Conf

A lecturer at Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Umaisha Galadimawa, has decried the First Lady, Aisha Buhari's decision on the detainment of her criticiser.

AllNews Nigeria reports a student of the Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Mohammed was arrested on the orders of Buhari after he criticised her stature on social media.

Following the arrest of Mohammed, individuals and institutions have condemned the First Lady's move, calling for the immediate release of the arrested student.

Galadimawa, a lecturer in the department of Political Science said Buhari should be prepared to be faulted as a mother and the wife of the president.

He stated that criticising leaders helps in turning their attention to the demands of their followers.

The lecturer expressed distress over the continuous detention of the 500-level student who, according to him, might have expressed the pains of the people through his comments.

“Every human being with a sense of belonging knows what Nigerians are passing through today. If in the event, where even a child in the womb makes an unpleasant comment against his/her mother, it’s a lesson and warning for her to make a positive change and impact on the lives of the people,” he said.

Galadimawa who pleaded the immediate release of the student said a mother wouldn't be aware of her child's hunger if he didn't cry.

Muhammed was recently arrested over a June post on social media where he caption Aisha Buhari's picture  “Su mama anchi kudin talakawa an koshi" which translates to ‘the mother has gotten fatter by eating masses’ money’ in English.

Despite the apologies tendered to the President's wife by individuals and associations and the demand for the release of the detained student, Mohammed has remained in confinement.
