While other university-based unions remain on strike, the Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions (ASURI) has suspended its six-month industrial action.
In a letter to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, signed by the union's Secretary-General, Theophilus Ndubuaku, ASURI announced the suspension of its strike.
The union embarked on strike in October 2021 over unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
“The Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions hereby writes to inform you of our decision to suspend, with immediate effect, our ongoing strike,” the letter read in part.
ASURI, in the letter, noted that it reviewed the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and other Federal Government agencies and the progress they have made in resolving the issues that led to the strike.
