Vengeful Mob Burns POS Robbers Alive In Lagos

Two men who reportedly robbed a POS attendant in the Igando area of Lagos State were burnt beyond recognition by an angry mob on Saturday.

The incident was confirmed on Sunday by Lagos Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed that the crowd fled when the police arrived at the scene.

"Police arrived at the scene but the mob had fled. An investigation has commenced", he said.

Hundeyin expressed displeasure over the action of the mob, wondering how such acts of jungle justice could be stopped.

He added that jungle justice is a criminal case in Nigeria and urged members of the public not to indulge in it.

The police spokesman advised that suspects in a crime should instead be handed over to the police for prosecution.

Hundeyin commended crime reporters for doing a good job in reporting the arrest of criminals in the state, appealing to judiciary correspondents to do more by updating Nigerians on the progress of prosecution of criminal cases in various courts in Lagos.

“This would halt the fallacy that, Police were collecting money and releasing suspects", he stated.
