Nigeria forward Victor Boniface is aiming to win a fifth straight Bundesliga Player of the Month award.

Organizers of the German topflight award, Bundesliga listed Victor Boniface as one of the three nominees for the December ward.

The other two players shortlisted for the award are Freiburg's Merlin Rohi and Xavi Simon of modest side RB Leipzig.

After another fine month of December, a record-extending fifth consecutive award is not out of the question for Boniface who won the Rookie award for August, September, October and November.

He also scored three goals and made two assists to aid Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side to avoid defeat in all competitions this season and his quality display for Bayer Leverkusen earned him a place in the Nigeria squad for the AFCON showpiece in Ivory Coast.

Boniface has been replaced in the Super Eagles team by Terem Moffi following the injury he sustained in the teams' camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In a club statement released, it was revealed that he will be out for up until April.
