VIDEO: Joke Silva Opens Up On Coping With Hubby Olu Jacobs' Illness

Nollywood icon Joke Silva always looks regal when she makes an appearance but behind the smiles lie the hurts and challenges that life has thrown at her, most notably her husband Olu Jacobs' dementia.

It was a sad day for entertainment fans when the popular actress announced in November 2021 that one of the industry's finest was battling the aforementioned ailment.

Opening up on how she has coped with her hubby's health decline in the latest episode of 'Mercy's Menu', Silva disclosed that she has reached a "place of acceptance".

According to her, Jacobs has been struggling with dementia for years without understanding what has been going on.

“I think for me, it was getting to the place of acceptance.

"Sometimes when a partner starts exhibiting some things, there will be the religious side… all these prayers and things.

“There are also other sides that say if you use all these natural herbs and the natural this and the organic that, and you’re doing everything that you’re being told to do and there is no change.

"It is almost as if the patient is getting worse.

“But when you get to the stage of acceptance that this is your new reality, honestly it is so much easier.

"You realize this is the new season, you’re walking with your partner and you meet them where they are. It’s so much easier”, she shared.
