Many passengers are believed to have died on Thursday morning following the collision between a train and a BRT bus in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to reports, the moving train collided with the BRT bus at PDW Crossing in Ikeja, dragging it to the Shogunle area of Lagos.
The accident was confirmed by the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement.
He disclosed that many casualties were recorded as the bus was full of government staff who were on the way to work.
"The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus is fully loaded with govt staff going to the office this morning," Taofiq said.
Additionally, authorities revealed that two female staff of the Lagos State government died in the accident.
Also speaking on the development, NEMA Zonal Director Ibrahim Farinloye stated that several persons on the bus sustained various degrees of injuries.
Farinloye added that the victims have been taken to nearby hospitals.
A video posted online shows a crowd around the two vehicles as many lament the unfortunate incident.
