VIDEO: Watch Moment Tinubu Goofs, Confuses NIPP For NIN

2023 Presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has goofed again at his recent campaign held at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos.

The meeting was to seek their support for his presidential aspiration earlier declared in January 2022.

Tinubu while speaking to thousands of South-West youths said some Nigerians have been disconnected due to NIPP.

In an apparent mix up of electricity and phone infrastructure, Tinubu said “And yet we started disconnecting from NIPP our phone numbers...,”

The NIPP is the National Independent Power Project, a patchwork policy of the central government to liberalise power generation into the national grid while NIN means National Identity Number.

The NIN is an identity code communications minister Isa Pantami urged Nigerians to link to their phone numbers to curb insecurity.

However, millions of Nigerians have been disconnected after the federal government given deadline elapsed. This has caused several controversies amongst citizens and experts.

Tinubu’s mixture of both systems (NIPP/ NINI) marks another instance of his embarrassing public statements.
