Villagers, Police Save Village Head From Kidnappers

The bandits were chased into growing farm produce where they made their escape

Gunmen, suspected to be Kidnappers were in the wee hours of Tuesday chased out from Garin Babba of Garun Mallam local government in Kano.

Reports said the gunmen stormed the village on Monday night and took the village leader, AbdulMuminu Mudi.

Speaking in Kano, Chiromawa vigilant group commander, Sani Ula said the villagers quickly alerted them about the invasion.

He said they quickly called the Kano Anti-Kidnapping squad, who swiftly came to their aid.

Ula said they chased the kidnappers into nearby farms, as the bandits abandoned their bikes and scampered to safety.

"We chased them, and they abandoned three motorcycles and the Sarki," he said.

The vigilant group commander said they chased them till the early hours of Tuesday, but couldn't catch up as they made their escape.

"They ran and fired shots at us, but we continued to chase them", he added.

He added that if not for the growing plants, they may have got to them.

Ula called on residents to give timely reports and help security agents in curtailing banditry and other crime in their locality.
