Virginia woman charged after brandishing sword at police off

A Virginia woman, Alexandra C. Hopkins, faces charges after allegedly wielding a medieval sword at a police officer and another individual.

Reports on Tuesday claimed the Leesburg Police Department responded to a call in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road to serve a warrant on Hopkins.

Upon encountering her, Hopkins reportedly swung a sword, over a foot and a half long, at one of the officers before retreating into a nearby residence.

Hopkins was apprehended without further altercation. A neighbor also informed police that Hopkins had wielded the sword at them. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

Subsequently, Hopkins was charged with assault on law enforcement, assault, and two counts of brandishing a weapon.

Additionally, she faces unrelated warrants from another agency. She has been remanded to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The incident underscores the unpredictable nature of law enforcement encounters and the need for swift action to ensure public safety.
