The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna Chapter has urged the electorate in the state to vote for leaders who have proven their commitment to peace in the forthcoming gubernatorial and state assembly elections.
The chapter's Chairman, Rev. John Hayab, made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.
Hayad reiterated the importance of voting for leaders committed to promoting peace, unity and development in the state.
”As we go out to vote, let’s consider candidates who possess the character to promote peace and unity in the state.
“We commend residents of the state for their peaceful conduct during the Presidential and National Assembly elections,” he said.
The CAN chairman added that the polls which will take place on March 18 are an opportunity for the people to freely decide who should lead them.
”So it is left for us to decide what we want by voting for leaders that will improve our fortunes and build a safe and prosperous state,” he said.
Hayab encouraged INEC to adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act and remain neutral.
”INEC should be neutral, just and truly independent. It should perform its roles in line with the provision of the law,” he added.
