WAEC: Delta Records 66,680 Candidates For 2023 WASSCE

96 Secondary Schools in Delta enrolled a total of 66,680 applicants for the 2023 examination according to the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC)

This was revealed on Thursday in Asaba at the beginning of the 2023 WAEC briefing for exam monitors by Nkechi Ugbaja, State Branch Controller of WAEC.

Ugbaja, who was represented by George Adukwu, a council employee, restated the council's commitment to administering an examination in the state without incident.

She advised the monitors to refrain from any acts that would impede the exam's success and orderly conduct.

“We are aware of the fact that examination malpractice could only be reduced but may not be totally eliminated,” she said.

Ugbaja, who also serves as the state coordinator for NECO, praised the state ministry of education for setting up the meeting.

She encouraged the SS 3 students to sign up for the examination while NECO registration was still open.

The monitors were advised by Rose Ezewu, the Commissioner for Secondary Education, to complete their tasks carefully and in accordance with the council's directives.

According to Ezewu, the monitors must make a significant contribution to the examination's success and give a good account of themselves.

“This training is organised yearly for monitors to interact and share ideas on their experiences, listen to instructions from the ministry and the examination bodies.

“All monitors should carry their letters of appointing with them as monitors, official identity cards and monitoring tags for the purpose of identification.

“It has been observed that many impersonators usually go round in the name of monitoring.
