The National Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Yaba was reportedly engulfed in flames early on Wednesday.
According to Lagos radio station Bond FM, firefighters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) arrived on the scene to put out the fire.
It was revealed by an eyewitness that a staff of the council believed to have been trapped in between floors was seen attempting to jump through the window of the 12-floor building to escape being suffocated.
As of the time of this writing, none of the council officials was available for comment and it had not been ascertained of there were casualties.
Also, the cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown.
